Tips for Selecting Wedding Shoes

September 2, 2015 | Posted in Weddings

Whether you’ve got a collection of sky-high heels or you’re more of a fan of ballerina flats, every bride needs her perfect pair of shoes for her wedding dress. There’s a lot that can influence your wedding shoes – your style of dress, the location of the wedding, or the time of year.

Plus, you’ll want shoes that’ll help you twirl effortlessly on the ballroom floor of the Crystal Ballroom of the Radisson Freehold. So, here are a few sparkly, shiny, and fabulous shoes our New Jersey brides are head-over-heels (ahem) for.

Back to basics. You can’t go wrong with a simple silver, ivory, or white heel or sandal. It goes with everything and keeps the bride’s look elegant and classical. For a little embellishment, pick a detail on your gown and select shoes with a similar detail, like a glittery finish, a touch of lace, or a floral accent. Here are some more simple, can’t-go-wrong styles to consider:

Something blue….
We’ve seen tons of brides from the Crystal Ballroom (and sister sites) walk down the aisle sporting blue shoes, following the tradition of having something borrow, blue, old, and new on their wedding day. Whether or not you decide to play along, blue shoes pop out against a white gown and make for unique photos, like the ones below. Or, if blue isn’t your color…

…Or something purple or pink or red. From bright red to shimmering gold to vibrant purples, no color is too outrageous for your shoes. A little color bursting from your wedding dress speaks to your personality – so go ahead, we dare you to get a little colorful! Here’s what our brides have worn:

Weather permitting. It’s no secret that Central New Jersey has its share of unpredictable weather. If you’re snapping photos outside in the elements, choose your shoes wisely. Comfort should always win over style – and besides, those wedding heels won’t look any good if they get covered in snow or accidentally take a plunge into the Jersey Shore! Don’t underestimate a simple pair of boots or comfortable flip flops, depending on the time of year.

Shoes that speak to you. A popular trend for New Jersey brides is to bare their soles – as in, show off a cheeky or cute message on the soles of their wedding shoes. Keep it simple with “I do” or have shoes customized with your name and wedding date (take a look at Etsy shops like this one for more inspiration).

Whether you walk down the aisle in our indoor ballroom or outside on the stunning grounds of the Crystal Ballroom, make sure you’ve got the perfect pair of shoes to accompany you down the aisle. You can check out photos of more Crystal Ballroom weddings, or contact us if you’re ready for a visit.
